Veterinarian hospitals rely on the help of several different types of employees. This is especially true of practices and emergency clinics that employ a wide range of canine, feline, bird, and horse specialists. Even animal health care clinics that offer regular medical services need well trained professionals, to serve their clients properly.
The most important professionals at most animal hospitals are the veterinarians. These doctors have degrees from veterinary schools that have prepared them to serve the medical needs of dogs, cats, and other animals. Depending on the type of practice, the veterinarians could focus on common pets or farm animals.
Some of the animal health care clinics also have specialists that focus on specific types of animals, surgeries, or holistic procedures. Some of them, for instance, are surgeons that can operate on cats, dogs, and birds. Clinics that employ surgeons can provide a wider range of services than those that only prescribe medicines, and offer the most basic health care services for pets.
These specialists, surgeons, and doctors are very important, but they could not give their clients the services that they need without the help of office workers that keep records, provide referrals, and give information about 24 hour emergency services. These employees often have some veterinary training, but they do not hold advanced degrees to operate on animals by themselves. They could, however, participate in some of the health care services as assistants, and they often work closely with the canines and felines that are boarding at the facility while they recover from surgery.
